Conner Walsh's Portfolio

About Me
Hello, I'm Conner Walsh. I'm a Digital journalism major at Appalachian State University. I'm looking for an entry-level job in a newsroom, where I can contribute to society by reporting breaking news and being a watchdog for the public.

I have various useful digital journalism skills that can help contribute to the newsroom and innovate what 21st-century journalism can be. These skills include creating engaging infographics, video journalism, video editing, and creating interactive data visualization charts using datawrapper. I also have traditional journalism skills like writing, reporting, and conducting interviews.

I have a diverse amount of interests in news reporting including, movie reviews, American politics, tech news, and the current Artificial General Intelligence arms race.

My journalism philosophy is that there are stories to be found in the most unlikely of places and that if you look hard enough you will find a great story.

Other Interests of Mine
Besides journalism, some other things I'm passionate about are hiking and fitness. I'm also an avid reader ranging from fiction, philosophy, and history. I like to think that these healthy hobbies help me produce better journalism by keeping my mind and well-being sharp.
